- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla, and mix until well combined.
- Stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth.
- Divide the batter between the prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes.
- Allow the cakes to cool for 10 minutes, then remove from the pans and cool completely.
- Frost with chocolate frosting and top with sliced strawberries.
Notes
- For a more intense chocolate flavor, use dark cocoa powder.
- Make sure to let the cake cool completely before frosting to prevent melting.
