- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups chocolate chips
Instructions
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugars until smooth.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
- Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt; gradually stir into the creamed mixture.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Divide dough in half and shape into logs. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Slice the chilled logs into 1/4 inch thick rounds and place on ungreased baking sheets.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are golden brown.
- Let cool on wire racks.
Notes
- For variations, add nuts or different types of chocolate chips.
- You can also sprinkle sea salt on top before baking for an added flavor.
