- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1/4 cup baking soda
- 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)

Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add flour and salt; mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 450°F (232°C).
- After dough has risen, divide it into 8 equal pieces and roll each into a rope.
- Shape the ropes into pretzels.
- Dissolve baking soda in hot water and dip each pretzel in the solution for 30 seconds.
- Place the pretzels on a baking sheet, brush with beaten egg, and sprinkle coarse salt on top.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown. Enjoy!
