- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp mixed dried herbs (such as rosemary and thyme)
- 1 cup buttermilk
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, baking soda, salt, and dried herbs.
- Make a well in the center and pour in the buttermilk.
- Mix until a dough forms, then knead gently on a floured surface for 2-3 minutes.
- Shape the dough into a round loaf and place on a baking sheet.
- Cut a deep cross into the top of the loaf.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Allow to cool before slicing.
Notes
- This bread is best enjoyed fresh but can be toasted for an added crunch.
