  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another large bowl, beat the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then mix in the molasses.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients and hot water, mixing until smooth.
  6. Pour the batter into a greased and floured cake pan.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Let the cake cool before frosting.
  9. For the frosting, combine powdered sugar, cocoa powder, vanilla, and cinnamon in a bowl and mix in enough water to reach desired consistency.
