- 4 cups all-purpose flour

- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 3/4 cups warm water
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, sugar, and yeast.
- Add warm water gradually and mix until a sticky dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C) and place a baking stone inside if available.
- Punch down the dough and shape it into a round loaf.
- Let the loaf rest for 30 minutes.
- Score the top of the loaf and transfer it to the preheated stone or a baking sheet.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, until golden brown and crusty.
- Remove from oven and let cool before slicing.
Notes
- For a crunchier crust, place a pan of water in the oven while baking.
- You can add herbs or spices to the dough for extra flavor.
