- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 1 packet active dry yeast
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm water and sugar, then sprinkle yeast on top. Let it sit until foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt.
- Gradually mix the yeast mixture into the flour until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise until doubled in size.
- Shape the dough into a loaf and place it on a baking sheet.
- Let it rise again for about 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes.
- Cool on a wire rack before slicing.
Notes
- For a crustier bread, place a pan of water in the oven while baking.
- You can add herbs or cheese for extra flavor.
