- 1 pound saltine crackers
- 2 cups unsalted butter
- 2 cups packed brown sugar
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring until smooth.
- Pour the mixture over the crackers, spreading evenly.
- Bake for 5-7 minutes until bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and sprinkle the chocolate chips over the top.
- Let sit for 5 minutes, then spread the melted chocolate evenly.
- If desired, sprinkle chopped nuts on top.
- Refrigerate until set, then break into pieces.
Notes
- Make sure the chocolate is completely melted before spreading for a smooth finish.
- Try adding different toppings such as crushed candy canes or toffee bits.
