- 12 oz pasta (penne or rigatoni)
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until onion is translucent.
- Add marinara sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine cooked pasta, ricotta cheese, and half of the mozzarella cheese.
- Pour the sauce over the pasta mixture and stir until well combined.
- Transfer the pasta mixture to a greased baking dish. Top with remaining mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Remove from oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- You can add cooked ground beef or sausage for a meatier version.
- Feel free to add vegetables like spinach or mushrooms for extra nutrition.
- This dish can be prepared ahead of time and baked just before serving.
